CONCERT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT (CPA)
Concert Performance Assessment (CPA), will be held either during the school day as a field trip, or an after school field trip, in mid March, 2027, at Batesburg-Leesville High School. The Chapin Middle School 8th grade band, and selected 7th graders, will perform a warm-up piece, followed by two adjudicated pieces, on stage, and will receive a rating and valuable feedback from a master adjudicator. We will then go into a separate room and sight-read a brand new piece using the STARS method that we practice daily.
tri-district arts consortium (tridac)
The Tri-District Arts Consortium, or TriDAC, is held in June of each year, at Richland-Northeast High School. Interested students are nominated by their director, and prepare a brief audition near the end of the school year. Students spend three weeks over the summer working with master clinicians, concluding with a concert at Lexington High School.
TriDAC is composed of students selected from Lexington-Richland 5, Lexington 1, and Richland 2 schools.
solo & ensemble festival
Solo & Ensemble Festival is held in late April on Friday and Saturday. Information will be posted around Winter break. The links below are from last year and serve as a general reference.
Solo & Ensemble festival is an official South Carolina Band Directors Association event, where students have the opportunity to prepare a solo and/or a small ensemble (duet, trio, etc., with friends), and make new friends and band connections from other schools around the midlands. Each and every band student would benefit greatly from participating in this.
